Oruxmaps running on a Hammerhead Karoo 2 (UPDATED!)
This device is bike intended but thanks to be build over Android we can install APK.
I want to use it also for hiking and I remembered Oruxmaps app in my days using Android phones. This is a huge and free app to follow and create tracks with the ability to install a lot of custom maps (online/offline) from different sources.
This is a quick manual about how to install apk’s in the Karoo 2
Resources needed:
· Android ADB tools downloaded here https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools and unzip it in a folder
· Oruxmaps APK downloaded here (latest version)
https://www.oruxmaps.com/cs/en/more/downloads
Step 1. Enable Developer options in the Karoo 2.
Go to Settings and scroll down to About.
Click and scroll down to Build number. Click on it 8x times.
Go back and search for a new option called Developer options.
Ensure USB Debugging is on.
Step 2. Connect the Karoo to your computer using a USB-C cable and wait to Windows to configure it.
Step 3. Install APK
Copy Oruxmaps APK in the folder where you unziped Android Tools.
Open a Windows cmd and go to the folder where you unziped Android Tools.
Run adb devices
Accept the offering in your Karoo
Now we are ready to install the APK using adb install OruxMaps9.0.1beta1.apk
Step 4. Welcome to the jungle!
Now you have a new icon in your Karoo
Enjoy your new hiking experience in this little bike computer ;-)

Mapy.cz is another great app I remembered! Worldwide OSM (OpenStreet Map) offline maps with a huge detail to use for hiking or whatever you need.
